Experimental Chili

I Love Chili!!!!! I just wanted to get that out int the open. To Nick Burns, thanks for the venison chili....oh wait. Like any red blooded American I typically will never turn down a bowl. In hindsight yesterday I should have. I am pretty sure that some irreversible damage has now been done.

So I am out visiting a client who makes and packages food for M.R.E. We walk past the test kitchen and I catch a whiff of something.

Chris "I smell cayenne"

Client "you have a good nose that is some experimental chili we are working on"

Chris " smells good"

Client "want some?"

Chris "you know it"

At this point we detour in to the test kitchen. My clients proceeds to get me a pouch of chili marked batch 13 out of a box. He cuts the seal and pours it into a bowl throws it in the microwave for 60 seconds and sets it in front of me. I should note that at this point I am still excited about having chili at 10 in the morning.

As I take my first bite he mentions that they have not been able to get FDA approval for it yet. I should have stopped then and there but I pressed on. When it hit my lips I knew something wasn't right.

Client "What do you think"

Chris "that is interesting"

Client "It is our vegetarian chili, we make it from curdled soy and color it to look like chili"

At this point I am in to far to turn back. It was the worst thing that I have ever finished off. My stomach as bee speaking to me ever since. what is more concerning to me is that it feels like my inside are coated with something heavy.

So if anyone ever offers you some"experimental chili" just say no.
